Abstract
Maternalni mortalitet je omjer umrlih žena od posljedica trudnoće, poroda i puerperija na 100 000 poroda. Neprihvatljiv broj žena u današnje vrijeme umire u svijetu od posljedica komplikacija trudnoće, poroda i puerperija. Prema istraživanjima Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije (SZO) u 2017. godini 295 000 žena umrlo je od posljedica trudnoće, poroda i puerperija u svijetu. Visoki postotak maternalnog mortaliteta u nekim područjima pripisuje se nemogućnošću pristupa kvalitetnom zdravstvenom sustavu i skrbi te u tim slučajevima dolazi do izražaja velika razlika između populacija s obzirom na socioekonomske prilike. Uočene su upečatljive rasne razlike u maternalnom mortalitetu, morbiditetu te perinatalnom morbiditetu, žene Afroamerikanke imaju tri puta veće šanse umrijeti nego žene bijele rase u Sjedinjenim Američkim državama. Pet najvažnijih uzroka maternalne smrti koji uzrokuju više od 75% tih smrti su: obilno krvarenje, infekcije, visok krvni tlak u trudnoći, komplikacije poroda i ilegalan pobačaj. Najveći postotak maternalnog mortaliteta čine žene umrle od postpartalnog krvarenja 54,6%, Drugi po redu uzrok smrtnosti je hipertenzija (14%), a zatim slijedi smrtnost vezana uz sepsu koja čini 10,7% mortaliteta. Žene umrle od posljedica pobačaja čine 7,9% dok embolija i ostali uzroci čine 12,8% svjetske statistike maternalnog mortaliteta. KLJUČNE RIJEČI:
Abstract (english)
Maternal mortality is the ratio of deaths of women from the consequences of pregnancy, childbirth and puerperium per 100,000 births. An unacceptable number of women nowadays are dying in the world as a result of complications of pregnancy, childbirth and puerperium. According to research by the World Health Organization, in 2017, 295,000 women died as a result of pregnancy, childbirth and puerperium worldwide. The high percentage of maternal mortality in some areas is attributed to the denied access to a quality health care system and care, and in these cases there is a big difference between the rich and the poor population. Striking racial differences in maternal mortality, morbidity, and perinatal morbidity have been observed, and African American women are three times more likely to die than Caucasian women in the United States. The five most important causes of maternal death that cause more than 75% of these deaths are: heavy bleeding, infections, high blood pressure in pregnancy, complications of childbirth, and illegal abortion. The highest percentage of maternal mortality is made by women who died from postpartum hemorrhage (56,6%). The second most common cause is hypertension (14%), followed by mortality related to sepsis (10,7%), and abortion 7,9% while embolism and others causes account for (12,8%) of world maternal mortality statistics.
