The aim of this study was to determine the awareness of impotnace of breastfeeding in the population of women who had their born child witihin 10 years. Additionally throughout this study the level of professional breastfeeding support the interviewd women gaind was examined and overall satifaction. Participants and Methods: In the study 2633 women were included from all counties of the Repulic of Croatia. The online questionairre was sent via social networks (Facebook, Viber, e-mail) and it was anonymus. It consisted of 28 questions. Results: The results of the questionairre show that 52 % of participant have one child. Most of the participants are from Zagreb, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and Zagreb County. The results show that 44% of women had vaginal birth with some medical intervention. Almost 30% breastfed the child until 3 months and 77% until 6 months. Participants without any education regarding breastfeeding or professional support are 75% of examined population. The educations were preformed in Community health centers and maternity hospitals. More than 40% were not satisfied with the education. Conclusion: This study shows that the breastfeeding in this population is not supportive, and further efforts are needed at the national level in order to protect and promote breastfeeding.
