Abstract
Cilj ovoga rada je bio prikazati incidenciju šećerne bolesti u gradu Otočcu. Proizlazi zaključak da je sve veći broj oboljelih i da dijabetes postaje sve veći javnozdravstveni problem. Ispitati da li je veća učestalost novooboljelih među muškim ili ženskim spolom, obolijevaju li češće mlađe ili starije osobe i koliko novooboljelih ustvari ima prekomjernu tjelesnu težinu. Također, u radu se opisuje i porast novooboljelih od dijabetesa kroz određeni period. U radu su opisani tipovi bolesti, najčešći znaci i simptomi bolesti, dijagnostički kriteriji te liječenje. Šećerna bolest dovodi do brojnih komplikacija, a one naposlijetku dovode do invaliditeta i povećanog mortaliteta. Šećerna bolest tipa 1 učestalija je u djece i osoba mlađe životne dobi, no može se pojaviti i kod odraslih. Dijabetes tipa 2 javlja se u više od 90% bolesnika i samim time najučestalija je metabolička bolest u svijetu. Šećerna bolest među 10 je vodećih uzroka smrti u Hrvatskoj, a iz godine u godinu penje se na navedenoj ljestvici.
Abstract (english)
The aim of this paper is to show incidence of diabetes in the city of Otočac. It can be concluded that there is an increasing number of diseased and that diabetes becomes a growing problem of public health. The aim is to examine if there is a bigger incidence of newly diseased among male or female gender, if younger or older people get sick more often and how many newly diseased is overweighed. Also, the paper describes a rise in the number of newly diseased of diabetes over a certain period of time. The paper describes types of disease, common signs and symptoms, diagnostic criteria and treatment. Diabetes leads to number of complications and eventually they result in disability and increased mortality. Type 1 diabetes is more common among children and young people, but may arise among adults as well. Type 2 diabetes occurs in more than 90% of patients and is the most frequent metabolic disease in the world. Diabetes is among top 10 causes of death in Croatia and year after year it rises in ranks.
