Abstract
Padovi su drugi vodeći uzrok smrtnosti od nenamjernih ozljeda u svijetu. Starost je jedan od ključnih čimbenika rizika za padove. Stariji ljudi imaju najveći rizik od smrti ili ozbiljnih ozljeda uzrokovanih padom, a rizik se povećava s godinama. Padovi dovode osobu, osobito odrasle i starije osobe, u opasnost od ozbiljnih ozljeda. Procjenjuje se da najmanje jedna trećina ljudi starijih od 65 godina pada jedan ili više puta godišnje. Padovi mogu biti pokazatelj temeljnog zdravstvenog problema. Patogeneza padova često je više faktorska, zbog fizioloških promjena povezanih s dobi ili pravilnije patoloških čimbenika, ili zbog okoliša. Identifikacija čimbenika rizika ključna je za planiranje preventivnih mjera. Sprječavanje padova zahtijeva multidisciplinarni pristup za stvaranje sigurnog okruženja za pacijente, uključujući program prevencije pada i edukaciju za medicinske sestre.
Abstract (english)
Falls are the second leading cause of death from unintentional injuries in the world. Age is one of the key risk factors for falls. Older people have the highest risk of death or serious injury caused by a fall, and the risk increases with age. Falls cause a person, especially adults and the elderly, to be at risk of serious injury. It is estimated that at least one-third of people over the age of 65 fall one or more times a year. Falls can be an indicator of an underlying health problem. The pathogenesis of falls is often more factorial, due to physiological changes associated with age or more properly pathological factors, or due to the environment. Identification of risk factors is key to planning preventive measures. Fall prevention requires a multidisciplinary approach to creating a safe environment for patients, including a fall prevention program and education for nurses.
