Aging is considered a presence of progressive and irreversible changes of an organism that occur as a result of the passage of time. Due to the existence of these changes, elderly people often lose the abilities they once had. These abilities are essential for normal daily functioning. In order to assess their loss and possibly slow down the deterioration process, regular functional status assessments are necessary. This kind of assessment was the goal of this research. The respondents were a group of elderly women (N=56) which was involved in the project „Organized exercises for elderly people 65+“. Timed up and go test and COOP/WONCA questionnaire were used to test the functional status of these women. Timed up and go test is used to assess functional mobility, while the COOP/WONCA questionnaire looked at 6 different aspects of functional status. After using descriptive statistic to process the data, the conclusion that the functional status of older life women is good was made. That conclusion is not in accordance with available research. This conclusion was reached on the basis of the obtained results of specific objectives. In this research, it is concluded that elderly women do not have reduced functional mobility, are not excessively preoccupied with feelings such as anxiety, do not have major difficulties in performing daily activities due to physical or mental ailments, do not have a large unfavorable impact of physical health on social activities, and do not have deteriorated health in the past two weeks. The results that support the set main hypothesis, which is that older women have a poor functional status, are that their ability to perform heavy physical activity is reduced and that their health in general is somewhat good or bad. Some of the results of different aspects of functional status, such as physical activity, overall health and change in health, agree with other authors. The results of the Timed up and go test are also in correspondence with existing reference values for the same age group. In order to explain the results of the other aspects, further research on a larger number of respondents is encouraged. Also, in order to obtain more precise results, it is suggested to divide the respondents into smaller age groups.
