A productive and stable healthcare system is of great importance for the functioning of any country. Nurses and midwives make up the largest share of healthcare professionals, who are largely exposed to stress and burnout. The aim of this research was to assess the frequency and intensity of burnout among midwives at workplace. The survey included 160 midwives in the Republic of Croatia, regardless of gender and age. It was conducted via online anonymous survey questionnaire in the month of july 2022. The Copenhagen burnout questionnaire was used in the research. The median of the overall scale of the Copenhagen questionnaire is 40.8. The results showed that the personal feeling of burnout is the most frequent and that it covers 62% of the survey respondents with a median of 54.2. This is followed by job-related burnout, which is present in 37.5% of respondents with a median of 42.9. Significantly high intensity is present in two respondents under the age of 30, working with their high school degree and with working experience of six to 15 years. The least amount of burnout is present in working with patients and includes 18.1% of respondents, and the median value is 25. The only significant difference can be seen in that domain, i.e. burnout related to working with patients is significantly more common among midwives and midwifery assistants than to bachelors in midwifery. Today, stressful factors that lead to burnout are more and more present. It is important to provide all needy people with help and support in order to prevent and reduce the frequency of burnout.
