COVID-19 is a highly contagious respiratory disease caused by a new coronavirus known as SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2). This virus can be asymptomatic or symptomatic in the population. Pregnancy is a state in which a woman's body goes through a series of changes in order to adapt to the needs of the fetus. When a pregnant woman is infected with the SARS CoV-2 virus, there is a possibility of developing some pregnancy complications (e.g. premature birth or cesarean delivery) compared to uninfected pregnant women. The aim of the research was to analyze the number of hospitalized pregnant women with COVID-19 in the period from March 2020 to March 2022 in KB Merkur, to show the most common symptoms of infection and to analyze the way of completing childbirth in pregnant women with COVID-19 infection. Results: According to the incidence in KB Merkur, out of 4358 (98.9%) pregnant women, 46 of them (1.1%) were infected with the COVID-19 virus. The most common recorded symptoms of COVID-19 infection were: low-grade fever, fever, cough, runny nose, diarrhea, vomiting, loss of sense of smell and taste. Of the total number of COVID-positive pregnant women, 20 of them (43.5%) had no symptoms of infection. The most common symptom was cough, which was present in 10 pregnant women (21.7%), while temperature was present in 4 pregnant women (8.7%). In the case of pregnant women with COVID-19, delivery was most often vaginal. 30 pregnant women (65.2%) gave birth vaginally, while caesarean section was performed in 16 pregnant women (34.8%). Conclusion: COVID-19 infection does not affect pregnancy and childbirth. The most common way of completing childbirth was vaginal delivery.
