Introduction: The assumption is that everything that happens in the mother's life, related to her psychological state, can affect the developing fetus. Anxiety is a disorder and it is the response of the mother's body to stress. Every pregnant woman can develop risk factors. This paper exa-mines the incidence of anxiety symptoms in mothers of prematurely born children and their rela-tionship concerning gestational age. Objectives: The research aims to determine the occurrence of anxiety symptoms in women who are mothers of premature babies. The main goal is to determine whether there is a connection between the level of anxiety and the gestational age at delivery in premature birth. Subjects and methods: 371 women who are part of the "Palčići", a club of parents of prematu-re babies, participated in the research. The research was conducted through an online anonymo-us survey. The data were analyzed and graphically presented with a convenience sample. Results: Regarding the age of the subjects, the average age is 34 years, ranging from 17 to 57, and the average gestational age is 31+6 days. 175 respondents gave birth once, 146 gave birth for the second time, and 41 gave birth for the third time. Moreover, women who gave birth four, five, and six times are in the minority. For 156 of them (42%), severe anxiety was proven, 94 of them (25%) had moderate anxiety, 69 (18%) had mild anxiety, and 52 of them (14%) had no anxiety. Conclusion: The occurrence of anxiety symptoms is significantly present during a premature birth, however, there are no statistically significant connections between the level of anxiety and gestational age.
