Phobias, which are characterized by excessive and irrational fears of certain objects or situations, significantly affect the daily life and psychological well-being of the individual. This thesis delves into the multifaceted field of phobias, with the goal of providing a comprehensive analysis of their origins, classification, underlying mechanisms, and contemporary treatment approaches. Nurses/technicians may encounter various types of phobias during their work and should have certain knowledge in order to recognize and treat the phobias themselves. The aim of this research is to examine the knowledge of undergraduate nursing students at the Faculty of Health Studies in Rijeka about phobias, symptoms of phobias and their treatment. This research has three goals: to determine whether there are differences in the knowledge of students with regard to the gender of the students, to determine whether there are differences in the knowledge of students who have completed secondary medical school and those who have completed gymnasiums or some other vocational schools, and to find out the differences in the knowledge of part-time students and regular students of the same study. The research was conducted during April and May 2023 at the Faculty of Health Studies of the University of Rijeka. 105 undergraduate nursing students participated in the research. The data for this research was collected based on a questionnaire created in Google Forms. The questions in the questionnaire are divided into 2 parts. The research results showed that all three hypotheses were refuted. Hypothesis 1 proves that there is no difference in the knowledge of phobias between women and men, hypothesis 2 proves that there is no difference between students who previously completed secondary medical school and students who completed gymnasium or another vocational school, but hypothesis 3 proves that regular students have a slight a lower level of knowledge about phobias than extraordinary or this difference is not statistically significant.
