... More te somatoformni poremećaj (nespecificiran).
Abstract (english) Somatization represents the expression of psychological problems through physical symptoms, for which, despite numerous tests, it is not possible to find an organic cause, that is, a medical explanation for the present symptoms. Somatization is a key characteristic of somatoform disorders, which according to ICD-10 belong to: somatization disorder, undifferentiated somatoform disorder, hypochondriacal disorder, somatoform autonomic dysfunction, persistent somatoform pain disorder, other
... More somatoform disorders and somatoform disorder (unspecified). The most common triggers for the appearance of somatic symptoms are stressful life events. Somatization often complicates a person's psychosocial functioning. If there is no spontaneous improvement, cognitive-behavioral therapy is most often applied, which tries to achieve that the person recognizes and modifies inappropriate behavior patterns.
The aim of the research is to investigate the frequency of somatization in nursing undergraduate students. We also want to find out what are the most pronounced somatic symptoms in full-time and part-time students. We also want to find out if there are differences in the frequency of occurrence of somatic symptoms with regard to the sex of the subjects and with regard to the study status.
The research was conducted during March and April 2023 at the Faculty of Health Studies of the University of Rijeka. 105 first, second and third year nursing undergraduate students participated in the research. Data for the conducted research were collected based on a questionnaire created in Google forms. The questions were divided into 2 parts.
The research results showed that the first and second hypotheses were partially accepted, while the third and fourth hypotheses were accepted in their entirety. Namely, the symptom of lack of energy/fatigue is common among full-time and part-time students, but there is no statistically significant difference compared to other symptoms. The third hypothesis was accepted in its entirety, considering that statistically significant differences regarding the sex of the subjects were observed for only 2 symptoms. The fourth hypothesis was also accepted in its entirety, although there are differences in the answers for a few symptoms, but for the rest of the symptoms, no statistically significant difference was observed regarding the study status.
