Multiple sclerosis is an idiopathic autoimmune chronic disease that affects the central nervous system. It is also referred to as the "disease with a thousand faces" due to its variable course. For this reason, it is crucial to direct education towards the numerous challenges posed by the disease. Education plays a pivotal role in raising awareness and preparing for a better understanding of the health condition. Thus, the aim of this research is to examine students knowledge about multiple sclerosis concerning the education provided at the Faculty of Health Studies, University of Rijeka. Through this research paper, differences in knowledge between regular and part-time first-year students who did not attend the "Neurology" course and third-year students who have attended the same course would be determined. The research was conducted using an anonymous online questionnaire consisting of 24 questions. A total of 103 students from the Faculty of Health Studies in Rijeka participated in the study. The questionnaire is divided into two parts. The first part includes five general sociodemographic questions, while the second part consists of specific questions related to knowledge about multiple sclerosis. The questions in the questionnaire encompass general inquiries about multiple sclerosis to assess students knowledge about its symptoms, causes, diagnosis, and treatment. The collected research data were processed using Microsoft Office Excel. The results of this research indicate a moderate level of knowledge among the participants, suggesting that the "Neurology" course is designed according to guidelines that contribute to students enhanced understanding. Given this data, there is always a possibility for further acquisition of new insights and skills necessary for the continuous expansion of knowledge and confidence in this specific field.
