Abstract
Internet značajno unaprjeđuje kvalitetu života, ali može uzrokovati mnogobrojne probleme kao što je ovisnost o internetu. Iz tog razloga izuzetno je važno prepoznati rizične skupine kako bi se preveniralo razvijanje ovisnosti o internetu. Glavni cilj provedenog istraživanja je istražiti i usporediti razlike u stupnju ovisnosti o internetu između dvije skupine studenata prijediplomskog studija Sestrinstva, Fakulteta zdravstvenih studija i studenata prijediplomskog studija Informatike, Fakulteta informatike i digitalnih tehnologija Sveučilišta u Rijeci. Također ispitati razlike u emocionalnoj i kognitivnoj preokupaciji internetom, zanemarivanju rada i nedostatku samokontrole i socijalnim problemima. Istraživanje je provedeno na prigodnom uzorku od ukupno 100 studenata prijediplomskog studija Sestrinstva, Fakulteta zdravstvenih studija i studenata prijediplomskog studija Informatike, Fakulteta informatike i digitalnih tehnologija Sveučilišta u Rijeci. Stupanj ovisnosti o internetu proveden je validiranim Testom ovisnosti o internetu autorice Kimberly S. Young. Na temelju kriterija Testa ovisnosti o internetu i uzimajući u obzir statističku obradu dobivenih rezultata pokazalo se da najveći postotak studenata Sestrinstva (50%) pripada drugom stupnju ovisnosti (blaga ovisnost o internetu). Najveći postotak studenata Informatike (40%) pripada prvom stupnju ovisnosti (nema ovisnosti o internetu). Ne postoji statistički značajna razlika u prosječnom broju bodova dobivenih na Testu ovisnosti o internetu među studentima Sestrinstva (34,78) i Informatike (38,10). S obzirom na prosječan broj bodova obje skupine studenata pripadaju drugom stupnju ovisnosti (blaga ovisnost o internetu). Također nema statistički značajne razlike među studentima u emocionalnoj i kognitivnoj preokupaciji internetom, zanemarivanju rada i nedostatku samokontrole i socijalnim problemima. Rezultati istraživanja pokazuju da se stupanj ovisnosti o internetu ne razlikuje među studentima Sestrinstva i Informatike.
Abstract (english)
The internet significantly enhances the quality of life but can lead to numerous problems, such as internet addiction. For this reason, it is crucial to identify risk groups to prevent the development of internet addiction. The main goal of the conducted research was to investigate and compare differences in the degree of internet addiction between two groups of undergraduate students: Nursing students from the Faculty of Health Studies and Computer Science students from the Faculty of Computer Science and Digital Technologies at the University of Rijeka. Additionally, the research aimed to examine differences in emotional and cognitive preoccupation with the internet, neglect of work, lack of self-control, and social problems. The research was conducted on a convenient sample of a total of 100 undergraduate students from the two faculties. The degree of internet addiction was assessed using the validated Internet Addiction Test by Kimberly S. Young. Based on the criteria of the Internet Addiction Test and considering the statistical analysis of the obtained results, it was found that the highest percentage of Nursing students (50%) belonged to the second degree of addiction (mild internet addiction). The highest percentage of Computer Science students (40%) belonged to the first degree of addiction (no internet addiction). There was no statistically significant difference in the average scores obtained on the Internet Addiction Test between Nursing students (34.78) and Computer Science students (38.10). Both groups of students, based on their average scores, belong in the second degree of addiction (mild internet addiction). There were also no statistically significant differences among students in terms of emotional and cognitive preoccupation with the internet, neglect of work, lack of self-control, and social problems. Based on the conducted research, it can be concluded that the degree of internet addiction does not differ among Nursing and Computer Science students.
