Introduction: Water polo is a dynamic team sport and one of the oldest Olympic team sports. As one of the most demanding sports, with frequent physical contact, dynamic movements, and intense training sessions and matches, water polo players are prone to various injuries. The most common injuries in water polo are traumatic acute injuries to the head and face, and chronic shoulder injuries, such as swimmer's shoulder. Objective: The objective of this study is to determine the frequency of injuries, identify the most commonly injured body part, and establish and compare the difference in the number of injuries among senior and junior water polo players of the Primorje EB Water Polo Club over the past two years. Participants and Methods: The participants in this study are water polo players from the Primorje EB Water Polo Club. The total number of participants was 27. Inclusion criteria included age 18 years and older, male gender, and membership in the Primorje EB Water Polo Club. Results: The study found that more than 50% of the surveyed water polo players from the Primorje EB Water Polo Club suffered some type of injury in the past two years. The injuries were similarly distributed across different body parts. No difference was found in the number of injuries between seniors and juniors. Conclusion: The study showed that injuries in water polo are very common, with an even distribution across body segments. The high number of weekly training sessions potentially contributes to the number of injuries. A significant number of players reported overtraining and excessive strain as the cause of their injuries, so further research into training processes is recommended, as well as education for players and coaches on preventive measures.
