Introduction: Metabolic diseases of the liver are a heterogeneous group of entities that are caused by metabolic disorders of a particular substance, and besides liver, other organs can be affected. Fatty liver is caused by excessive accumulation of lipids in hepatocytes. Gastro-oesophageal reflux leads to incompetence of the lower esophageal sphincter. Obesity is a chronic disease that is caused by excessive accumulation of fat in the body and increased body weight. Objective: To establish the correlation between the existence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (diagnosed by elastographic parameters) with the presence of hiatal hernia, cardiac insufficiency and findings of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease. To determine the correlation between the level of steatose liver and the weight of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease. Methods: Retrospective research was carried out over three years and data has been compiled based on the protocol „Waist Circumference and Waist-Hip Ratio: Report of a WHO Expert Consultation“ of the World Health Organization. Results: Endoscopic examination of 396 patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver showed the following: hiatal hernia was found in 165 patients, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease in 108 patients and cardiovascular insufficiency in 262 patients. The statistical significance was not determined of steatose gradus I, II and III and of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease was not determined by gradus A, B, C, D according to Los Angeles classification. Conclusion: Health education is a part of public health and the way of working in preventative medicine and in all medical professions. Nurses have the competence to teach and educate healthy and diseased individuals, which must be planned and systematically conducted and every individual is an active member of the education process.
