One of the main roles of adolescence is forming an identity and the capability to take on responsibilities. Throughout this process there are numerous obstacles and difficulties in achieving these goals. Adolescence is a period known by numerous happenings in the psychological realm of an individual, and it is for this reason that it is known as a period of turbulence and storminess. Controlling emotions as well as self-esteem are processes that develop during adolescence. Exactly in these areas we find dysfunctionalities in adolescents. The goal of this research was to establish if there is a significant difference in controlling of emotions by adolescents with respect to the education and age of the questioned adolescents. The goal as well was to question the statistical importance in the level of self-esteem in adolescents with respect to their place of residence and age. This research consists of 163 questioned individuals, from the first and third grades of the school of medicine in Rijeka (N=75) and the first and third grades of the First High School in Susak (N=88). The questioned individuals were presented with questionnaires at free will. The used questionnaires were The questionnaire of emotinal regulation and control (ERIK) and the Rosenberg self-esteem scale as well as a questionnaire of demographic means. The results showed that there is no statistical meaning in controlling emotions in respect to education. The age of the questioned showed as a statistically meaningful factor in the influence of controlling emotions, where it was proven that the first grade has better control of emotions in comparison with the third grade. The place of residence and age of the questioned did not show to have an influence on the level of self-estee.
