Abstract Smrt za svaku osobu je zastrašujuća jer dolazi do gubitka identiteta, a i samoga sebe. Smrt označava prestanak životnih funkcija i gubitak voljene osobe. Pogađa obitelj, prijatelje i druge osobe koje se susretnu sa smrću. Većina ljudi umire u bolnicama, hospicijima, staračkim domovima. Rijetko tko se odluči na smrt kod kuće od obitelji i umirućih. S obzirom da postoji kvaliteta života, trebalo bi postojati i dostojanstvo umiranja. Susret sa smrću pogađa i zdravstvene djelatnike te se oni moraju suočavati sa samim izazovima kod bolesnih i umirućih te i same obitelji.
Hospicij razvija pokret u kojem je smrt normalna pojava te je to vrijeme za pomirenje i omogućavanje dostojanstvene smrti. Prihvaća potrebu umirućih da žive potpuno, ponosno i udobno dok ne umru. Ne požuruje, a niti odgađa smrt. Uspjeh ovisi prvenstveno o znanju i stavovima zdravstvenih djelatnika koji su zaposleni. Naglasak je na kvaliteti života umirućih. Smrt se ne odgađa, nego se prihvaća kao normalan proces ciklusa života.
Svaki život ide svome kraju, a to je smrt. Ponekad ljudi zaborave kako je život krhak, prolazan ili privremen. Kraj života terminalno oboljelih pacijenata dolazi kroz bolest, bol, agoniju i patnju. Ako je dobra terminalan skrb umirućih pacijenata, suzbija se bol, patnja i agonija.
Pacijent koji dolazi u hospicij je ranjiv, pun pitanja i strahova. Zdravstveni djelatnici imaju zadaću da pruže utjehu, mir, i pomoć. Ne smije se povrijediti dostojanstvo čovjeka. Prema svakom čovjeku se treba postupati jednako. Medicinska sestra omogućuje pacijentu smanjenje boli, oslobađanje od straha te istodobno osigurava prava i vrijednost svakog čovjeka.
Abstract (english) The death of any person is terrifying because there is a lose of identity. Death menas the stop of vital functions and the loss of a loved one. It affects family, friends and other people who face death. Most people die in hospitals, hospices, nursing homes. Hardly anyone chooses to death at home. There is quality of life, should exist and dying dignity. The encounter with death affects health professionals and they have to deal with the challenges at the very sick and dying and the family itself.
The hospice movement is developing in which death is a normal occurrence, and it is time for reconciliation and facilitating a dignified death. It accepts the need of dying to live fully, proud and comfortable until they die. Do not rush, nor postpones death. Success depends primarily on knowledge and attitudes of health care professionals who are employed. The emphasis is on the quality of life of the dying. Death is not postponed, but is accepted as a normal process of life cycle.
Every life is going to an end, and that is death. Sometimes people forget that life is fragile, transient or temporary. End of life of terminally ill patients coming through sickness, pain, agony and suffering. If terminalan good care of dying patients, suppresses the pain, suffering and agony.
The patient who comes in hospice is vulnerable, full of questions and fears. Health care professionals have a duty to provide comfort, peace, and help. Do not hurt the dignity of man. According to every man should be treated equally. The nurse provides the patient pain relief, relief from fear and at the same time ensuring the rights and value of every human being.
