BACKGROUND: Strength training is a method which has been more and more used in the last 10 years. It is available toall sorts of age groups and it offers different kinds of benefits. For example, there is an increase in muscle strengtj, stronger bone density, a better proprioception and a positive effect on the mood. Strength training is science based method, which further approves its use. PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to investigate the knowledge of physiotherapists in Croatia about the strength training, as well as their attitudes towards its use. METHODOLOGY: The study is conducted by using the Google questionnaire on the sample of 152 participants, 99 of which are females, and 53 are males. The study took place from 25th to the 28th of March, 2020. The permission for the study was granted by the Ethic comittee of Faculty of Health Studies in Rijeka. PARTICIPANTS: Participants had to be younger than 60 years old and they needed to have finished undergraduate study of physiotherapy, atleast. RESULTS: Results of questionnaire showed that only 30,3 percent of physiotherapists are familiar with the definition of strength. Furthermore, 83,6 percent told that formal education does not offer enough information about strength training. 84,2 percent of participants consider strength training a part of physiotherapy procedures, while 15,2 percent think that strengthh training should be used alone, as separate therapy. Most of the physiotherapists think that strength training should primarily be used in the rehabilitation of the musculo-skeletal system. CONCLUSION: The results of the study show that there is a justified need for formal education to be focused more on the strength training. Moreover, it can be seen that the available literature about the terminology of strength training and its use, should be rearranged.
