Abstract (english) | The aim of this research is to show the incidence of ectopic pregnancy in the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics of KBC Rijeka in the period from January 2017. to December 2021., to compare the frequency of ectopic pregnancies after in vitro fertilization and after spontaneous conception, and also to compare the incidence of ectopic pregnancy in different age groups.
In the study were included all patients hospitalized due to ectopic pregnancy in the period from January 1, 2017. to December 31, 2021.. The observed parameters are age and method of conception. The hospital archive was searched for collect data.
In 2017., there were 2520 labors and 23 ectopic pregnancies (0,91%), in 2018. there were 2474 labors and 26 ectopic pregnancies (1,05%), and in 2019., the number of labors was 2381 and 15 ectopic pregnancies (0,63%), in 2020. there were 2335 labors and 11 patients with a diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy (0,47%), in 2021. the number of labors was 2349, and the number of ectopic pregnancies was 14 (0,60%). Overall during the period 2017.-2021. in KBC Rijeka there were 12 059 births and 89 patients with a diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy (0,74%).
During the observed period, none of the test subjects developed an ectopic pregnancy as a result of the IVF procedure, which is considered as a risk factor, so all 89 test subjects with a diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy conceived spontaneously (100%).
In the five-year period that was observed, the average age of patients with a diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy in 2017. was 33,74 years, in 2018. it was 32,38 years, in 2019. the average age was 32,00 years, while in 2020. it was 33,36 years, in 2021. the average age was 31,71 years. Looking overall, during this period 2017.-2021. the average age was 32,64 years. No statistically significant difference was observed in the age of the test subjects with regard to the observed years of the analysis (p<0,05).
The incidence of ectopic pregnancy according to age groups confirms the fact that as a woman ages, the possibility of ectopic pregnancy increases. In the group age of "25 years and under" 8 subjects had an ectopic pregnancy (8,9%), in the group "26-34 years" there were 48 subjects (53,9%) and in the group "35 years and over" 33 test subjects developed an ectopic pregnancy (37%). |
