Bone remodelling (its creation and degradation) is a constant process. In osteoporosis, the bone mass is reduced, which proves that bone decay is faster than creation, especially in postmenopausal women, since the rate of spongy bone formation is then reduced. Risk factors that can accelerate this process are primarily the decline in estrogen levels, endocrine disorders, but also smoking or an increased amount of fatty tissue or obesity. The aim of this study was to define subjects with reduced and normal bone density through an anamnestic survey and densitometric findings, and on that basis determine the kinesiotherapy treatment program that the subjects will pass. The goal was also to determine the statistical correlation between thyroid disease, postmenopause, smoking, and increased amounts of fatty tissue with reduced bone density. Data have been found to have a statistically significant difference in the frequency of fractures, obesity and smoking with a larger number of those in the group of subjects with reduced bone density compared to healthy subjects. It was also found that there was no statistically significant difference in the thyroid disease or the postmenopausal duration between groups. It can be concluded that, besides lower estrogen levels as the main risk factor, smoking and increased amount of fat additionally accelerate the degradation of the bone resulting in reduced bone density and consequent frequent fractures. This research aims to highlight the importance of regular exercise in order to increase fitness and reduce fat stores, as well as improve blood flow that contributes to better bone remodeling.
