Abstract
Debelo crijevo dio je ljudskog probavnog trakta. Njegova uloga u funkcioniranju cjelokupnog organizma je nezamjenjiva. Međutim, prisutnost bolesti debelog crijeva nije nepoznanica i uglavnom se pojavljuje u obliku sindroma iritabilnog crijeva, upalnih bolesti crijeva, ulceroznih kolitisa, divertikuloze, različitih infekcija, ali i polipa i malignih oboljenja debelog crijeva. Polipi predstavljaju abnormalne izrasline s unutarnje stijenke debelog crijeva koje mogu biti benigne ili maligne. Maligni polipi uglavnom se razvijaju u kolorektalni tumor, koji se ujedno smatra jednim od najčešćih i najopasnijih oblika karcinoma u cjelokupnoj ljudskoj populaciji. Istraživanje provedeno u Endoskopskom centru Opće bolnice Karlovac u razdoblju od 01.01.2023. do 31.12.2023. godine uključivalo je sve osobe u dobi od 20 do 70 godina. Cilj istraživanja je usporedba broja zloćudnih tumora debelog crijeva sa brojem polipa te analiza učestalosti zloćudnog tumora debelog crijeva među spolovima. Analizom podataka utvrđeno je kako je kod većeg broja ispitanika zabilježena pojava polipa u odnosu na tumor debelog crijeva te kako od ovog oblika bolesti u jednakoj mjeri obolijevaju i muškarci i žene.
Abstract (english)
The large intestine is part of the human digestive tract. Its role in the functioning of the entire organism is irreplaceable. However, the presence of colon diseases is not unknown and mainly appears in the form of irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel diseases, ulcerative colitis, diverticulosis, various infections, but also polyps and malignant diseases of the colon. Polyps are abnormal growths on the inner wall of the colon that can be benign or malignant. Malignant polyps mostly develop into colorectal cancer, which is also considered one of the most common and dangerous forms of cancer in the entire human population. Research conducted at the Endoscopic Center of Karlovac General Hospital in the period from 01.01.2023. until 31.12.2023., included all persons aged 20 to 70. The aim of the research is to compare the number of malignant colon cancers with the number of polyps and to analyze the frequency of malignant colon cancers between genders. The analysis of the data revealed that a greater number of subjects had polyps than colon cancer, and that both men and women suffer from this form of the disease to an equal extent.
