Abstract (english) The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the efficacy of inhalation therapy for children with asthma problems after their 21 - day rehabilitation, hospitalized at the Thalassotherapy Crikvenica Children's Department in 2017. Their findings on spirometry before and after inhalation therapy, and on medicines used for inhalation treatment, will be displayed.
The research will be conducted at the children's department of Thalassotherapy Crikvenica. The study will include children with asthma disorders hospitalized at the Thalassotherapy Crikvenica Children's Department in 2017 at the age from 6 to 19. By inspecting medical records (History of Disease), anamnestic data, spirometry and physiotherapeutic status will be collected on arrival and departure from rehabilitation.
The method used to produce this paper is a direct insight into medical documentation, telephone (oral) questionnaire, method of analysis and synthesis and statistical method. The study has been conducted at Thalassotherapy Crikvenica, a special hospital for medical rehabilitation, by a random selection method for patients suffering from asthma problems. The study included 50 respondents with an average age of 12.2 years, ranging from 6 to 19 years. The examined sample included 32 (64%) boys and 18 (36%) girls.
Results of the control spirometry show us a significant improvement in the small airways compared to the ones before of the conducted treatment, indicating the efficiency of the rehabilitation e.g. the success of the inhalation therapy applied to children during their stay on the treatment. The results of the telephone questionnaire from parents show that most respondents rated their health status better and presented us with the exceptional success of these treatments. By inspecting the medical records, the children who have returned to the treatment, of whom 28 after rehabilitation, 12 used Ventolin until their return to the rehabilitation.
Achieving asthma control is the main goal of treatment, and the fact that their health condition improves after rehabilitation by inhalation therapy helps maintaining the quality of life of a child comparable to the quality of life of healthy peers, e.g. without limits to their physical activities and sports, and reducing absence from school classes. Systematic monitoring of prevalence of asthma and comorbidity may result in the development of new and more successful treatment algorithms.
