Football is the world’s most popular sport and believed to be the most important secondary thing in the world. It is characterized by high level of dynamics and game rhythm so the footballer should be in excellent physical shape in order to avoid injuries. However, injuries are inevitable part of sports and in the narrow sense we differentiate overuse injuries and acute injuries. The aim of this paper is to investigate the incidence of injuries at the CFC Rijeka Football School in 2018/2019 season, in the categories of pioneers, cadets and juniors, on a sample of 123 male respondents. The study showed that 60.16% of the respondents suffered some type of injury, of which 60.81% were overuse injuries and 39.19% were acute injuries. Overuse injuries are more common in the pioneer group while in the group of cadets and juniors both occur equally often. The results of the study indicate that the most common injuries are groin pain syndrome, patellar tendonitis and low back pain syndrome and the most common acute injuries are muscle strain and ankle sprain. As chronic injuries are predominant prevention should include all professionals who work with young footballers, athletes themselves and their parents to. In conclusion prevention should include all professionals who work with young footballers, athletes themselves and their parents to keep players in good health and improve the game.
