The main role of this paper is to show the correlation between chronic wounds and the quality of life of the diseased person. Chronic wounds are becoming a growing public health, social and economic problem, and in order to understand their impact on mental health, it is necessary to first clarify the pathophysiology of wound formation and the stages of their healing. Wound prevention is based on the early identification of risk factors and their timely identification. It is important to know the factors that affect a patient's wound healing and those related to the wound itself. In order to determine the appropriate therapy and treatment for a chronic wound, it is necessary to know its cause, in this case it is assisted by a thorough nursing history of the patient and the status of the wound itself. There are various modern ways of treating chronic wounds such as compression therapy, negative pressure therapy, modern compress, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and others. Furthermore, in order to better explain the link between chronic wounds and quality of life, it is necessary to know what the definition of quality of life and its way of measuring entails. The paper briefly presents some of the most important general and specific instruments for assessing quality of life, namely EQ-5D, HRQoL, SF-36, and CIVIQ. According to the research presented in the paper, the feeling of pain has the greatest impact on the quality of life of patients with a chronic wound.
