Background: Scientific research was conducted for the purpose of testing the effectiveness of postoperative analgesia with ketoprofen/paracetamol in elective thyroid surgery in day surgery. The purpose of the research is to contribute to better postoperative care, reduction of postoperative pain and reduction of the use of opioids as postoperative analgesia. Aim: Determine the severity of postoperative pain in patients after elective thyroid surgery during the first 24 hours, and examine the difference in pain severity and frequency of additional analgesia at the request between group A subjects and group B subjects. Methods: The study includes patients who are hospitalized in daily surgery of the Polyclinic Sinteza after elective thyroid surgery in period from 01.01.2023. to 01.05.2023. The survey includes 50 respondents. Patients are divided into two groups; group A – i.v. analgesia with paracetamol 1 gram every 8 hours and group B – i.v. analgesia ketoprofen every 8 hours (during 24 hours postoperatively). According to the criteria of exclusion and inclusion, described in this paper, the medical documentation of patients was selected and analyzed to meet the same criteria. Results: Pain was assessed as mild to moderate using the NRS pain scale in subjects after elective thyroid surgery. The average pain of the subjects 24 hours after the operation is mild, M ± SD = 0.9464 ± 0.60. According to the NRS pain scale, the average pain in subjects who received 1 g of paracetamol every 8 hours after thyroid surgery is M± SD = 1.15 ± 0.61, while the average pain is less in subjects who received ketonal 100 mg M± SD = 0.75 ± 0.529. There is a statistically significant difference in the relationship between group A and B respondents. The share of group A respondents who received an additional analgesic is 44%, while the shere of group B respondents who received an additional analgesic is 16%. Conclusion: The research results prove that patients whose postoperative pain was treated with ketoprofen after elective thyroid surgery had a lower score on the NRS pain scale. Patients whose postoperative pain was treated with paracetamol required more additional analgesia. Based on the obtained results, the use of analgesia for postoperative pain treatment with ketoprofen (NSAIL) can be recommended.
