Introduction: Nutrition is one of the most important parts of human everyday life and has a great impact on human health. Food habits start to be acquired in childhood and are gradually evolving. Switching from high school to college carries many changes in each person’s life, and certain changes can affect the way and the quality of the person’s diet. Aim: The aim of this paper is to collect information on the satisfaction with the nutrition of students of the regular Nursing study at the Faculty of Health Studies in Rijeka. Participants and methods: 80 respondents participated in the study, and an anonymous 22 question questionnaire was used. The research was approved by the Ethics committee of Faculty od health studies University of Rijeka. Results and discussion: Often, the continuation of further education also entails the changing of the place of residence, which can further influence the nutritional habits that has been made so far. Students’ obligations often leave students no time to plan their daily diet which leaves them to consume food in students’ canteen or something from fast-food restaurants or bakery products. When asked how satisfied they are with their diet during their studies, from a total of 26 first year students only 4% answered that they are completely satisfied with their diet, and 58% of the students said that they are partially satisfied. Asked the same question, from 28 third year students only 3% said that they are completely satisfied with their diet. Conclusion: Nutrition is an important factor in maintaining and achieving good health. Many studies have shown correlation with the emergence of certain chronic conditions with poor nutrition habits. Nutrition as a basic need of life plays a major role in the lives of young people who engage in new responsibilities and new life circumstances. For many students, their start of studies is a turning point for their eating habits, because by leaving home they have a responsibility to choose what kind of nutrition to consume, and whether to change it for better.
