This thesis paper will explain the concept of occupational therapy aimed at the individual and achieving maximum independence in their daily activities and improving their quality of life. For this purpose, occupational therapy uses creative techniques aimed at filling client’s/patient’s time in institutions or hospitals, and it is often heard that occupational therapists are “doing something” with users, although the truth is much more complex. For example, colours are found everywhere in the environment, and dominate in human lives. Colours themselves have no meaning, but they can get it if they are given the cultural one, and can take on a different signification. There is a whole branch of psychology that deals with the study of how colours affect human emotions and it is called the colour psychology. Perceptions of the certain colours are individual and cause different moods, emotions and behaviours, and it can be said that they cause a certain placebo effect in a person. The main task of drawing a fractal is that a person expresses his / her own personality with a drawing that is drawn to certain rules. The aim of the thesis paper was to examine the influence of the occupational method of fractal drawing technique on emotional state and mood of a person, and whether the improvements in these segments would be achieved after that technique. A cross-sectional survey was conducted on the residents of the Home for the elderly “Mali Kartec” in the area of City of Krk. The study investigated the effect of fractal drawings on human psyche and mood. The conclusion is that occupational therapy has positive effects on the mood of the residents and that the occupational therapeutic method of fractal drawings technique results in a better self-esteem within the emotional state of the residents.
