Introduction: Sarkopenia is a medical term that refers to the loss of muscle mass, strength, and function that typically occurs with age. It is a natural process of aging in both the body and muscles, but it can also result from inactivity, poor nutrition, and other factors. Sarkopenia can lead to muscle weakening, reduced mobility, an increased risk of injuries and falls, and a diminished quality of life. Regular physical activity, proper nutrition, and appropriate exercise programs can help slow down or reduce the progression of sarkopenia. Research Objective: The main objective of this research was to explore the knowledge and attitudes of students about sarkopenia and to determine if awareness of sarkopenia is sufficiently represented in the community. Materials and Methods: In this study, twenty final-year students of the Undergraduate Professional Study of Physiotherapy at the Faculty of Health Studies in Rijeka and twenty first-year students of the Integrated Study of Medicine at the Medical Faculty in Rijeka, who attended the elective course "Aging of Skeletal Musculature," were surveyed. An anonymous questionnaire created solely for the purpose of this research was used. The questionnaire was used to measure and compare the students' knowledge of sarkopenia. Results: The results showed that first-year medical students who attended the elective course "Aging of Skeletal Musculature" had better knowledge of sarkopenia compared to third-year physiotherapy students. Conclusion: The research demonstrated that physiotherapy students should be more educated about the topic of sarkopenia.
