Introduction: Emotional intelligence is the skill of understanding both one's own and others' feelings and using them in handling the environment in which they work. An emotionally intelligent person is someone who perceives emotions, uses them in thinking, understands them, and manages them better than others. Since emotional intelligence is a crucial prerequisite for success, especially in the workplace of nurses/technicians working with sick people, it is important for healthcare professionals to be familiar with this concept. Aim: To examine the level of emotional intelligence among regular and part-time undergraduate nursing students at the Faculty of Health Studies in Rijeka. Also, to determine if age and gender affect the level of emotional intelligence and if there is a difference in emotional intelligence between regular and part-time nursing students. Participants and methods: A study was conducted using a questionnaire on a convenience sample of extraordinary and regular students at the Faculty of Health Studies in Rijeka. The questionnaire "What's My EQ?" was used Results: All hypotheses in this study were rejected. In all observed groups of participants, the level of emotional intelligence has a distribution close to normal, and there is no statistically significant difference in the level of emotional intelligence between the groups. The median for the variable "level of emotional intelligence" in all groups is approximately 39. Conclusion: This research emphasizes the importance of emotional intelligence in the workplace, and that every person, including nurses and technicians, should be familiar with EI. It highlights how crucial it is to understand both others' and one's own emotions, and to control them in certain situations to ensure more effective patient care.
