Low back pain is defined as pain, discomfort, tension, and tightness in the lower back, in the area caudally from the costal arch, and cranially from the lower gluteal sulcus. The appearance and intensity of pain is individual for each person, as well as the reasons of appearance. It has not yet been fully explored, and the incidence is growing. It is second in a row reason for absence from work. For nurses, the biggest problem is back pain, followed by problems in the cervical spine and shoulders. Low back pain reduces the working ability of nurses and is among the most common causes of job loss. 50% of back pain in nurses is caused by work. There is also a high rate of low back pain among physiotherapists. There is no exact number. The cause is mostly business. The aim of the study was to show the frequency of low back pain in healthcare professionals. The study involved 80 health professionals, 40 nurses / technicians and 40 physiotherapists. The respondents are citizens of the Croatia Republic and are members of the Chamber of Nurses and the Chamber of Physiotherapists. Respondents who stated that they do not have back pain (5 physiotherapists and 3 nurses / technicians) completed only the first and second groups of questions, and further did not answer because the questions were related to low back pain. The research involved physiotherapists and nurses / technicians who have worked for 1 year or more. The results confirm that there is a higher prevalence of low back pain among nurses / technicians than physiotherapists, that health professionals generally do not seek medical help because of back pain, and that health professionals consider work to be a risk factor for low back pain. A high prevalence of low back pain was found in healthcare professionals.
