Abstract
Zbog visoke učestalosti i visoke stope smrtnosti oboljelih, maligne bolesti su prozvane epidemijom modernog doba. One mogu nastati u svakom tkivu ili organu te u svakoj životnoj dobi. Jedan su od vodećih uzroka obolijevanja i smrtnosti u svijetu s incidencijom od 14 milijuna novih dijagnoza godišnje i 8,2 milijuna smrtnih ishoda. U medicinskom rječniku, pojam maligne bolesti s jedne strane obilježava rak, dok s druge strane obilježava bolest u kojoj je napredak vrlo brz i općenito prijeti ili dovodi do smrti u kratkom vremenu, uključujući, ali ne i ograničavajući se na rak. Gledajući dobnu skupinu, sve veći porast obolijevanja od malignih bolesti bilježi se kod mlađih osoba. Karcinom jajnika je među zloćudnim novotvorinama ženskog spolnog sustava vodeći uzrok smrti. Unatoč pokušajima razvoja programa probira čija je cilj i svrha rano otkrivanje bolesti, kao i uvođenje novih terapijskih pristupa, smrtnost nije značajno smanjena. Razlog ovog neuspjeha se očituje u nerazumijevanju postanka i razvoja karcinoma jajnika, a koji je smatran jedinstvenom bolešću. Nekoliko je činitelja za koje se smatra da utječu na povećanu ili smanjenu opasnosnost od nastanka zloćudnog tumora (dojenje, rađanje, hormonsko nadomjesno liječenje, neplodnost, oralna kontracepcija). U ovom radu prikazana je incidencija raka jajnika za razdoblje od šest godina. Usporedbom incidencije raka jajnika u Republici Hrvatskoj i Sisačko-moslavačkoj županiji nije ustanovljena statistički značajna razlika.
Abstract (english)
Due to high incidence as well as the high rates of mortality, malignant diseases are termed the epidemic of the modern age. They can occur in every tissue or organ and at every stage of life. Malignant diseases are one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the world with 14 million new diagnoses and 8.2 million deaths. In a medical dictionary, the very concept of malignant disease on the one hand marks cancer, while on the other hand it is characterized by a disease in which progress is very rapid and generally threatens or leads to death in a short time. Looking at the age group, an ever-increasing illness of malignant diseases is observed in younger people. Ovarian cancer, among the other gynecologic malignancy, is the leading cause of death. Despite attempts to develop a screening program aimed at early detection of disease as a new therapeutic approaches, mortality has not been significantly reduced. Cause of this failure is manifested in the misunderstanding of the onset and development of ovarian cancer, which is considered a unique disease. Several factors are associated with increased or decreased risk of malignancy (breastfeeding, birth, hormone replacement therapy, infertility, oral contraception). This paper presents the annual incidence of ovarian cancer for a period of six years. Comparison of ovarian cancer incidence in the Republic of Croatia and Sisak-Moslavina County showed no statistically significant difference.
