Abstract
Porod se definira kao niz fizioloških i mehaničkih zbivanja u tijelu rodilje koja dovode do poroda djeteta, te potom i posteljice, pupkovine i plodovih ovoja. Normalni porod predstavlja dovršetak trudnoće u gestacijskom razdoblju između 37. i 42. tjedna trudnoće, tj. donošenje na svijet zrelog djeteta sposobnog za samostalni život. Zdravstvenu skrb tijekom poroda pružaju liječnik ginekolog/opstetričar i primalja. Gotovo sve odluke donosi liječnik, što ne umanjuje ulogu primalje u pružanju skrbi usmjerene na rodilju. Nakon poroda nastupa razdoblje koje se naziva puerperij ili babinje, traje 6-8 tjedana. Glavne karakteristike puerperija su involucijski procesi i uspostavljanje dojenja. Primalja pruža zdravstvenu njegu majki i novorođenčetu. Jedna od uloga primalje je educirat majku o dojenju, te ju podučit dojenju i ispravnom stavljanju novorođenčeta na dojku.
Abstract (english)
Childbirth is defined as a series of physiological and mechanical events in the mother's body that lead to the birth of a child, and then the placenta, umbilical cord and fetal membranes. Normal childbirth is the completion of pregnancy in the gestational period between the 37th and 42nd week of pregnancy, ie the birth of a mature child capable of independent living. Health care during childbirth is provided by a gynecologist / obstetrician and a midwife. Almost all decisions are made by the doctor, which does not diminish the role of the midwife in providing maternity-focused care. After childbirth, a period called puerperium or midwifery occurs, lasting 6-8 weeks. The main characteristics of puerperium are involutionary processes and the establishment of breastfeeding. The midwife provides health care to the mother and newborn. One of the roles of a midwife is to educate the mother about breastfeeding, and to teach her breastfeeding and the correct placement of the newborn on the breast.
